My career path
I am a computational physiologist, data scientist, and applied mathematician whose research has lived at the intersection of mathematics, statistics, machine learning, and biology. A born and bred North Carolinian, I earned my PhD in Applied Mathematics in 2019 from North Carolina State University working with Mette Olufsen, Ph.D., where I also completed a graduate minor in Physiology.
In my postdoctoral work at the University of Michigan, I developed mathematical models for patient-specific outcomes and studied the cardiovascular ramifications of heart failure and autonomic neuropathy at both systemic and cellular levels. That research was supported by the T32 Postdoctoral Multidisciplinary Cardiovascular Training Grant at the Frankel Cardiovascular Center.
I pivoted to machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) development as a Staff Research Scientist at Applied Research Associates (ARA), where I led a task force delivering ML/AI solutions for government clients. My work spanned data analytics, computer vision, MLOps, and the deployment of containerized AI tools that integrate small and large language models.
Today, I work as a Senior AI Engineer with Brooksource working as a contractor for Ally Financial, Inc., building end-to-end AI/ML solutions that target financial and business-driven problems. Specifically, my work has been focused on integrating LLMs into everyday corporate workflows and validate their impact.
The practice
Why yoga
Yoga is not only a physical expression for me but an energetic one. For a significant portion of my life, outside forces dictated my health, well-being, and happiness. Yoga gave me the opportunity to take that back through breath, introspection, and centeredness.
That process was long and would not have been possible without my yoga community. It shapes everything I teach: a cultivation of prana, focus, openness, and acceptance, whether in a high-intensity vinyasa or a low-impact deep stretch. I will always meet you at your level. Every pose is accessible with the right support.
My yoga credentials include a 200-hour training at Total Being Yoga, a 300-hour advanced training at Y2 Yoga, and current registration as RYT 500, E-RYT 200, and YACEP with Yoga Alliance.
